This decision stems from various alleged violations, including conflicts of interest and the prolonged failure to conduct elections. The suspension has significant implications for the governance of billiard sports in the Philippines and the welfare of its athletes.

Background of the Suspension

On February 18, 2025, during a meeting in Doha, the ACBS Board of Directors resolved to suspend the BSCP. This decision was ratified the following day during the ACBS General Meeting. The suspension was officially communicated to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) on March 9, 2025.

Reasons for Suspension

The ACBS cited several reasons for the suspension of the BSCP:

  • Conflicts of Interest: Allegations have been made regarding conflicts of interest within the BSCP's management.
  • Failure to Conduct Elections: The BSCP has not held elections for an extended period, leading to concerns about its governance and leadership legitimacy.
  • Unauthorized Tournaments: The BSCP organized international tournaments without obtaining necessary approvals from either the Asian or world governing bodies.
  • Neglect of Athletes: There have been concerns about the BSCP not adequately supporting and managing the welfare of Filipino billiard athletes.

Role of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC)

In light of the suspension, the ACBS has tasked the POC with temporarily overseeing billiard sports in the Philippines. This includes supervising arrangements and ensuring that national athletes receive necessary support and entitlements during the suspension period. The POC is also responsible for forming a disciplinary committee to investigate the alleged violations by the BSCP.

Impact on National Athletes

The suspension raises concerns about the preparation and participation of Filipino billiard athletes in upcoming international competitions, notably the World Games scheduled from August 7 to 17, 2025, in Chengdu, China. The POC's intervention aims to ensure that athletes' training and participation are not disrupted during this transitional period.

Next Steps and Resolution

The disciplinary committee established by the POC will conduct a thorough investigation into the BSCP's alleged violations. Depending on the findings, measures will be implemented to address governance issues and restore proper management within the BSCP. The goal is to reinstate a functional and compliant national federation for billiard sports in the Philippines.

Conclusion

The suspension of the BSCP by the ACBS underscores the importance of transparent governance and adherence to organizational protocols in sports administration. The proactive involvement of the POC aims to safeguard the interests of Filipino billiard athletes and ensure the continuity of the sport during this period. A timely and thorough resolution is essential for the future of billiard sports in the Philippines.

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/johann-chua-targets-reyes-cup-glory/ //panalo567casino.com/johann-chua-targets-reyes-cup-glory/#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 02:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=2951 Filipino pool star Johann Chua is gearing up for a new challenge as he represents Team Asia in the inaugural Reyes Cup, fresh off his triumph at the Hanoi Open. The Filipino champion recently cemented his status as one of the top billiard players in the world by winning his first major world nine-ball title, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Ko Pin Yi 13-7 in the finals.

Chua’s performance in Vietnam not only highlighted his skills but also secured him a spot in Team Asia as the second overall pick for the prestigious Reyes Cup.

A Historic Win at the Hanoi Open

The Hanoi Open, held at the Hanoi Indoor Games Gymnasium on Sunday, October 13, saw Chua rise to the occasion in front of a global audience. The event was packed with tension, skill, and high-level performances, but it was Chua who outplayed his competition to clinch the title. For the 32-year-old pool star, this victory marked a significant milestone in his career, bringing home a major world title after years of honing his craft on the international circuit.

Beating Ko Pin Yi, a world-renowned player from Chinese Taipei, in a decisive 13-7 match not only showcased Chua’s abilities but also reinforced his reputation as a fierce competitor. Chua’s victory wasn’t just personal; it was a win for the Filipino pool community, which has a long and storied history in the sport.

Joining Team Asia for the Reyes Cup

Following his remarkable win in Hanoi, Chua’s next challenge will be representing Team Asia in the Reyes Cup. Named after the legendary Filipino pool player Efren “Bata?Reyes, the Reyes Cup will see Team Asia go head-to-head with a strong Team Europe lineup. The competition format, inspired by the renowned Mosconi Cup, will feature a battle between the best pool players from the two continents, aiming for supremacy in the sport.

Chua joins an impressive lineup in Team Asia, which includes his fellow Filipino and former World Champion Carlo Biado, Singapore’s Aloysius Yapp, Ko Pin Yi from Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang. Despite being considered underdogs, Team Asia has no shortage of talent and experience, and Chua is particularly excited to play in front of a home crowd after spending so much of his career abroad.

Chua’s Excitement and Determination

Speaking about his upcoming challenge in the Reyes Cup, Chua shared his excitement and determination to lead Team Asia to victory, despite the team’s lack of experience in this particular format. “Winning is a huge thing because that has been my goal and to be able to prove to myself that I can surpass my problems, that is one thing that I can bank on in my next games,?/em> Chua said during a media interaction. “Hopefully, we will have a better time bonding and jiving together since chemistry is something that the Europeans have an advantage against our team.?/em>

Chua was candid about the challenge ahead, acknowledging that the European team, comprised entirely of champions, would not be easy to beat. “The Europeans picked the best, and they are all champions, that’s why the United States had a hard time winning against them. We have experienced players like Johann, who has placed in his previous tournaments, which is why there is a huge chance. Ko, who is from Taiwan, is the best in our group, so Team Asia is very much capable,?/em> Chua explained.

The Reyes Cup is the New Era for Asian Billiards

The Reyes Cup, co-organized by Matchroom of England and Puyat Sports of the Philippines, is set to make history as it brings together the best billiard talents from Europe and Asia. The tournament will be held at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium from October 15 to 18, and it is already generating buzz within the billiards community.

Modeled after the prestigious Mosconi Cup, which pits the top players from Europe and the USA against each other, the Reyes Cup offers a fresh twist by featuring Asia as a contender for the title.

For Filipino billiards fans, the Reyes Cup is particularly special. Efren “Bata?Reyes, the tournament’s namesake, is a national hero and an icon in the world of pool. Known as “The Magician,?Reyes is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, and his legacy continues to inspire the new generation of players, including Johann Chua.

Team Asia’s Chances Against Europe

While Team Europe is undoubtedly a formidable opponent, Chua and his teammates are not daunted by the challenge. Chua emphasized that talent and perseverance would be key to their success. “They are used to this format, whereas this is our first time, but talent will prevail and whoever blinks first will lose,?Chua said confidently.

Chua’s teammates are equally strong contenders, with Carlo Biado having previously won the World Nine-Ball Championship, and Ko Pin Yi being regarded as one of the best players from Chinese Taipei. Aloysius Yapp and Duong Quoc Hoang are also well-respected players in the region. While chemistry may be a concern for Team Asia, their individual skills make them serious competitors.

A Growing Fanbase for Billiards in Asia

Chua’s victory at the Hanoi Open and his upcoming participation in the Reyes Cup reflect the growing popularity of billiards in Asia. In recent years, more Asian players have gained international recognition, and tournaments like the Reyes Cup are helping to elevate the sport’s profile even further. With more fans tuning in to watch these high-stakes competitions, there’s no doubt that billiards is experiencing a resurgence in popularity across the continent.

For aspiring billiard players, Chua’s journey is a testament to the dedication and hard work required to succeed at the highest level. His success is also a reminder of the immense talent that exists in Asia, and how players from this region are capable of competing ?and winning ?on the world stage.

As the first Filipina to win the prestigious WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship, her accomplishments have not only brought pride to the Philippines but have also shattered barriers in a predominantly male-dominated sport.

The Foundation of a Champion

Rubilen Amit's journey toward becoming a billiards legend did not begin with pool cues and balls. In fact, her first love was basketball. Born in Cebu City, Amit was naturally athletic and competitive. She enjoyed playing basketball with her peers until the age of 12 when her classmates began focusing on other activities. Sensing a new opportunity, her father introduced her to billiards.

Initially, billiards was just a casual game for Amit, played with her cousins for fun. But it soon became apparent that she had a natural talent for the sport. Her father recognized this talent early on and motivated her by offering rewards like shirts and pants for every competition she won.

This encouragement fueled Amit's growing passion for the game, and soon she was honing her skills at a competitive level. The support of her family, particularly her father, played a significant role in her early development and love for billiards.

Breaking Barriers in a Male-Dominated Sport

In the world of billiards, male players like Efren “Bata?Reyes have long dominated the scene. However, Amit’s success proved that women, too, could rise to the top in this sport. Throughout her career, Amit faced opponents who underestimated her, especially when competing against male players. Despite this, she maintained her composure, demonstrating her ability to stay calm under pressure—a key trait that contributed to her success.

Amit has consistently proven that gender is no barrier when it comes to skill and excellence in billiards. Her success has paved the way for other female athletes who aspire to succeed in sports traditionally dominated by men. By breaking down these barriers, Rubilen Amit’s legacy is not only about her personal achievements but also about creating opportunities for future generations of female billiards players.

Rubilen Amit's Historic Wins

One of Rubilen Amit's most significant career milestones came in September 2023, when she clinched the coveted WPA Women’s World 9-Ball Championship in Hamilton, New Zealand. This win was the culmination of years of hard work and near-misses, including finishing as a runner-up in 2007 and reaching the semifinals in 2018 and 2019.

With her victory over China’s Chen Siming in the final, Amit cemented her status as a world champion in the sport she loves.

But her achievements don't stop there. Amit has also won the WPA Women’s World 10-Ball Championship twice. In 2009, she beat former world number one Jeanette Lee in the quarterfinals, followed by victories over Akimi Kajitani of Japan and Shin-Mei Liu of Taiwan to secure her title. She added a second 10-ball world title in 2013 by defeating Kelly Fisher in the finals at Resorts World Manila.

These accomplishments have established Amit as one of the most decorated female billiards players globally, further solidifying her legendary status in the sport.

A Commitment to Mental Health Advocacy

Beyond her achievements on the billiards table, Rubilen Amit is also known for her advocacy for mental health awareness. As a board member of Project: Steady Asia, a mental health initiative under Rock Ed Philippines, she helps provide support for athletes dealing with the pressures of competitive sports. The program offers mental wellness sessions, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, these were made accessible to the public via Zoom.

Amit has been an outspoken advocate for mental health, believing that mental resilience is just as important as physical prowess in sports. Alongside fellow Filipino athletes like Olympic weightlifting gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Amit has facilitated mental wellness sessions, encouraging others to seek help and prioritize their mental well-being. Her involvement in this initiative highlights her holistic approach to success, both in sports and in life.

The Role of Family in Amit's Success

Throughout her career, Rubilen Amit’s family has been her bedrock of support. From her father, who introduced her to billiards, to her extended family who have cheered her on, Amit has always had a strong network behind her. This support has been crucial, especially in a sport that requires mental toughness and focus. Amit often cites her family as one of the key reasons she has been able to overcome the challenges in her career.

Her family’s encouragement helped her stay grounded, even in the face of adversity. In a sport that often requires long hours of practice and travel for international competitions, having a reliable support system has been essential to her success.

Encouraging the Next Generation: The Amit Cup

Amit's influence extends beyond her own achievements. She is committed to growing the sport of billiards, especially among women. To this end, she launched the Amit Cup, a tournament designed to give amateur female players a platform to showcase their skills.

The event encourages young women to take up billiards, teaching them the same lessons of discipline, focus, and mental fortitude that Amit learned throughout her career.

The Amit Cup is more than just a tournament; it’s part of a larger movement to empower women in sports. Amit hopes that through initiatives like this, more Filipinas will see billiards as a viable sport where they, too, can excel and make a mark.

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/why-asian-team-will-win-reyes-cup-prediction/ //panalo567casino.com/why-asian-team-will-win-reyes-cup-prediction/#respond Mon, 07 Oct 2024 10:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=2867 We knew that Matchroom Sports thought about a team competition between Asian pool players and European pool players similar to the Mosconi Cup. Why it took so long would be the question. Better late than never? You bet.

The inaugural edition of the Reyes Cup will be held on October 15-18 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium. The said event is named after Efren Reyes, who is widely regarded as the greatest pool player of all time. Reyes, nicknamed “The Magician? won the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) World Nine-Ball Championship in 1999.

Efren Bata Reyes and Francisco Bustamante represented the Philippines at the World Cup of Pool, winning in 2006 and 2009. And the Filipino cue artist was inducted to the Billiard Congress of America’s Hall of Fame in 2003. It was only fitting, then, that a nine-ball pool team tournament between the best pool players from Asia and the best of Europe should be held in his honor.

will efren bata reyes asian team win in reyes cup tournament?

It wasn’t surprising that Reyes was chosen as the team captain of the talented Asian squad. The European team isn't outdone, though. Karl Boyes was named the team captain of the fancied European team.

The native of Bradford, England won the 2014 World Cup of Pool (with Darren Appleton). He’s also the 2010 WPA World Eight-Ball Champion. The world rankings determined the top three Asian players and then the top three European players.

And then both Reyes and Boyes would decide the last two players as wildcards. Rankings weren't a factor, as both team captains leaned on performances these last few years and what they could bring to the pool table.

Let’s enumerate the participating players and their world rankings (in parenthesis):

Team Asia

  • Ko Pin Yi (4)
  • Johann Chua (10)
  • Aloysius Yapp (11)
  • Carlo Biado (27)
  • Duong Quoc Hoang (39)

Captain: Efren Reyes

Team Europe

  • Eklent Kaçi (2)
  • Jayson Shaw (3)
  • Mickey Krause (5)
  • Joshua Filler (6)
  • Francisco Sánchez Ruíz (14)

Captain: Karl Boyes

The European squad, led by two-time WPA World 10-Ball champion Eklent Kaçi, looks stronger on paper. But we’re leaning on the Asian squad. What could Reyes do?

Why Team Asia Will Beat Team Europe?

The Asian pool players excel in team events. The Philippines won the World Cup of Pool four times, the most by any nation. China won the prestigious team event three times. Many pool fans wonder why Matchroom won’t stage the World Cup of Pool this year.

We’ll get to that part a little later. Some fans would point out that the European pool players didn’t do bad at all. As a matter of fact, Germany and Finland won the World Cup of Pool in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

The 2011 edition was held in The Block of SM City North EDSA while the 2012 edition was held in Robinsons Place Manila. There are two Filipinos in the Asian squad, which would drive the home fans wild.

Johann Chua and Carlo Biado can rise to the occasion. Johann Chua and James Aranas won the 2023 World Cup of Pool in Lugo, Spain, the third Filipino pair to achieve such a feat. And Chua, a native of Bacolod, lost to Kaçi in the semifinals of the World Pool Championships.

Biado’s impressive resume includes the 2017 WPA World Nine-Ball Championships, the 2021 US Open Pool Championships, and the 2024 World Ten-Ball Championships. Both Chua and Biado are the top Pinoys cue artists these past years, and playing in front of pool-crazy local fans would put more pressure on both of them.

If they manage to rise to the occasion in the biggest pool events, then conquering nerves in home soil won’t be a problem. But there’s something else.

Efren Reyes wouldn’t be called “The Magician?for nothing. Reyes admitted that his skills declined before the pandemic began, but his ability in the pool table was renowned. We think it didn’t diminish at all, so we can’t wait for what he would see and tell to his team during the three-day event.

The European squad is a formidable team. As a matter of fact, the Mosconi Cup, an international team competition between the best American pool players and the best of Europe, turned into a one-team affair in 2007. The Americans have won on four occasions since then.

However, rankings flew out of the window in team events. Tennis fans would attest to it whenever they watch the Davis Cup matches. Reyes chose Duong Quoc Hoang because of the Vietnamese pool player’s tactical play and precision. And it could put the Asian squad in a favorable position during those make-or-break moments.

?em>To be picked for Team Asia in the first ever Reyes Cup is a dream come true. Representing my country on the global stage is an honor I take great pride in, and I’m excited for the challenge of facing Europe’s best,?/em> Hoang said.

Boyes can argue about the same thing with Sánchez Ruíz, the 2023 World Pool champ, but it remains to be seen. It should bring pool fans to a rather painful topic.

Whatever Happened to the World Cup of Pool?

We don’t think the lack of funds, or sponsors, would be the reason behind the non-inclusion of the prestigious team event in Matchroom’s calendar. For one, there are too many pool tournaments all over the world.

It should give pool players more chances of ranking up more points and move up the world rankings. But Matchroom could be thinking of how to make pool fans, and potential sponsors, more invested into the sport. No one raised an eyebrow on Saudi Arabia hosting the World Pool Championships this year, but the British sporting event promotions company could be looking for other ways to widen the market.

Is the Olympics in the cards? Let’s wait and see.

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/cue-sports-in-olympics-is-rejected/ //panalo567casino.com/cue-sports-in-olympics-is-rejected/#respond Tue, 13 Aug 2024 10:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=2094 There were 32 sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics, or a rise of 41% since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. It's simply too much. The International Olympic Committee (OIC) is trying to make the Summer Olympics more relevant in the 21st century, but less is more. Which sports must be let go? We'll go to that (interesting) part later. Here's our next question: Why is cue sports in Olympics is not included in the program? It will never be.

Cue sports, pool and snooker in particular, are popular in many parts of the world. The World Pool Association (WPA) is the international governing body for pool. WPA launched the World Pool Championships in 1990, becoming one of the major events in the world of billiards. However, WPA couldn't give pool, and other cue sports, a push. If it did, it might not be influential enough.

In other words, it would come down to money. Matchroom, a UK-based sporting event promotions company, promotes the World Cup of Pool, World Pool Masters, and the Mosconi Cup. It should be a matter of when. Right? Not really.

There are many factors to consider before the OIC decides that this sport is good enough to be included in the Olympic program. In the case of pool, or cue sports, we narrow the reasons to three:

Generation Z? Why not! The OIC wants the Summer Olympics to be more relevant, so they reach out to Gen Z. It shouldn't be surprising that breakdancing, or breaking, would make its debut in the 2024 Paris Olympics. As the opening ceremony would show, the French are known for trying to be different. And very creative. Breaking seems to fit that concept, but the outcome confounded the organizers.

Australia's Rachael Gunn, or RayGun, drew flak from her Olympic performance. Many social media netizens cringed at her moves, resulting in lots of memes. The future of breaking becomes uncertain after that unwanted attention, which should lead to billiards or cue sports. Most of the cue players look old. And it's been that way. Will the (Gen Z) sports fan find it appealing? Will they look for another sport?

Location. The inclusion, or non-inclusion, of baseball in the Olympic program depends on where the Summer Olympics will be held. The best European teams can't challenge the American teams, all of whom aren't Major League Baseball (MBL) players. Yet.

To make a long story short, it's pointless to include baseball in the 2024 Paris Games. It would make a comeback in the 2028 Los Angeles Games, and baseball fans are looking forward to it. Let's fast forward to the 2036 Summer Olympics. Many sports fans think that it would be logical to stage the quadrennial multi-sports event in Asia after Paris, Los Angeles, and Brisbane would host it. Indonesia bid for the right to host the 2032 Summer Olympics, but the OIC awarded the rights to Brisbane.

The Indonesian Olympic Committee won't give up, as it intends to bid on the hosting of the 2036 Olympics. It would face some serious competition, though. Istanbul is one of the possible host cities, Ahmedabad as well. Seoul, where the 1988 Summer Olympics was held, seemed interested. And then Saudi Arabia. The OIC will make that huge decision in 2029, if not days before the opening of the 2030 Winter Olympics.

The likelihood of billiards making its debut (as a medal sport) is high because the contesting countries come from Asia. Billiards is a medal sport in the Southeast Asian Games. If Indonesia is awarded the rights to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, then the Indonesian Olympic Committee will be generous to billiards powerhouses like the Philippines.

Money, money, money. Cue sports in Olympics should've been a reality earlier (after Matchroom started promoting the major pool events). But it might require more.

The 2025 Southeast Asian Games will be held in Thailand, and billiard is one of the medal sports. The Olympic Committee of Asia (OIA) didn’t think that billiard, or snooker, would fit in the sports program of the 2026 Asian Games. But breaking is. The 2026 Asian Games will be held in Nagoya, Japan. Ami Yuasa, who hails from Kawaguchi, is the gold medal winner in the B-Girls category in Paris.

Million dollar questions

Which sports must be included in the Olympic program?

Billiards (or snooker). We explained why.

Swimming. It's the marquee event during the first week of the Summer Olympics. And rightly so. Michael Phelps used to draw the crowd. It's Leon Marchand's turn.

3x3 basketball. We can't get enough of billiard balls game (or its variations)

Which sports must be ditched?

Breaking. The Los Angeles Olympic Committee (finally!) saw the light.

Equestrian. It's so medieval. And looks uppity. Don't you think?

Sailing. We weren't thrilled. We couldn't relate to the participants. How many of you own a boat?

Your thoughts?

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/reyes-cup-billiard-tournament/ //panalo567casino.com/reyes-cup-billiard-tournament/#respond Thu, 01 Aug 2024 08:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=1858 Billiards fans are looking forward to the 2024 World Cup of Poll after James Aranas and Johann Chua won the 2023 World Cup of Pool in Lugo, Spain. Aranas and Chua became the third Filipino pair to win this prestigious billiard tournament. It's also the fourth World Cup of Pool title for the Philippines, the most by any country. Filipino fans are looking forward to this year's edition, hoping it will be held in the Philippines. Robinsons Place Manila was the venue of the 2012 World Cup of Pool.

It was the last time that the Philippines hosted it. Mikka Immonen and Petri Makkonen of Finland won the tournament. They were disappointed at Matchroom's release of schedule for the remaining months of 2024. The World Cup of Pool isn't included in the schedule. Is it due to lack of sponsorships? Matchroom didn't release any statement. Yet. But the British sporting events promotion company announced a new tournament. Are you ready for the Reyes Cup?

The Reyes Cup is named after Efren "Bata" Reyes, one of the legendary figures in billiards. Reyes, nicknamed "The Magician", won the 1994 US Open Pool Championship, the 1999 World Pool Championships, and the 2004 WAPA World 8-Ball Championship. Reyes and Francisco Bustamante won the World Cup of Pool in 2006 and 2009.

He was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame in 2003. Reyes is arguably the best billiards player outside the US, if not the greatest billiards player. Ever. Matchroom's new billiards tournament is a fitting tribute to the Filipino cue artist, who inspired lots of young and upcoming Pinoy billiard players and turned the Philippines into the mecca of pool.

The Reyes Cup is patterned after the Mosconi Cup, a Ryder-Cup format that would pit the best European cue players against the best Asian billiard players. It should be an exciting matchup, as Europe and Asia have dominated the billiards tour these past years. Russian-born Fedor Gorst is the top-ranked player, but American players took a beating in the recent editions of the Mosconi Cup.

The top three European players and top three Asian players will be determined after the 2024 World Pool Championships in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 2024 European Open Championship in Fulda, Germany, and the 2024 US Open Pool Championship in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. The two remaining players will be selected by the Team Asia captain and Team Europe captain respectively. The 2024 World Pool Championship concluded last month, and billiard betting fans were excited about the first two players who would play in Manila this October.

Meet Eklent Kaci and Aloysius Yapp

Eklent Kaci of Albania and Aloysius Yapp of Singapore were the top performers from Europe and Asia respectively after the conclusion of the 2024 World Pool Championship. Kaci, a native of Lac, Albania, is the two-time WPA World Ten-ball Championship while Yap won the 2023 International Open 9-Ball Championship in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.

"I'm thrilled to be part of the first-ever Reyes Cup. Competing at this level and representing Team Europe for the first time is an incredible honor, and I can't wait to showcase my talent at this prestigious tournament," Kaci said.

After maintaining his 10th position in the WNT rankings, Aloysius Yapp became the first player to join Team Asia.

"It's an amazing feeling to be selected for team Asia in the inaugural Reyes Cup. I'm excited to compete against the best and bring my best game to the table. This tournament is going to be something special," the Singaporean pool player said.

The 2024 European Open Championship will be held on August 6-11. The results can change the Team Europe standing. At this very moment, the Top 5 are:

  1. Eklent Kaci (Albania)
  2. Joshua Filler (Germany)
  3. Wictor Zielinski (Poland)
  4. David Alcaide (Spain)
  5. Mickey Krause (Denmark)

The 2024 US Open Pool Championship will really shake the rankings up, as this major tournament isn't restricted to American billiard players. Billiard fans are more interested in Team Asia, though. At this very moment, the Top 5 are:

  1. Johann Chua (Philippines)
  2. Aloysius Yapp (Singapore)
  3. Ko Pin Yi (Taiwan)
  4. Robbie Capito (Hong Kong)
  5. Jeffrey Ignacio (Philippines)

What about Carlos Biado? The native of La Union is the most decorated Filipino billiards player at the moment, He can qualify as a wildcard. The Asian team captain will decide the last two players.

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/is-pool-a-sport-myths-and-facts/ //panalo567casino.com/is-pool-a-sport-myths-and-facts/#respond Wed, 24 Jul 2024 10:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=1695 When talking about sports, traditional sports like tennis, basketball and football usually come to mind. But another less-known but as interesting activity that has enthralled viewers for decades is pool. Critics counter that pool is more of a leisure pastime than a sport. Today we will dispel the false ideas and investigate the facts to help us to realize is pool a sport?

Understanding Pool: A Quick Overview

Pool is also known as billiards which is a cue sport played on a table with six pockets. The game involves using a cue stick to strike balls into the pockets following specific rules depending on the variation being played such as 8-ball, 9-ball, or straight pool. The objective varies but generally revolves around pocketing designated balls in a strategic manner.

Debunking the Myths About Pool

Myth 1: Pool is Just a Bar Game

One of the most common misconceptions is that pool is merely a casual bar game. While it's true that many enjoy playing pool in social settings, this perception undermines the skill and strategy required at competitive levels. Professional pool tournaments showcase players' high levels of precision, mental acuity, and physical dexterity, proving that pool extends far beyond a simple pastime.

Myth 2: Pool Doesn't Require Physical Fitness

Another myth is that pool doesn't require any physical fitness. While pool may not demand the cardiovascular endurance of running or swimming, it does require significant physical control, particularly fine motor skills. The ability to maintain a steady hand, execute precise shots, and sustain focus for extended periods demands both physical and mental stamina.

Myth 3: Pool Lacks Competition and Professional Recognition

Critics argue that pool lacks the competitive structure and professional recognition seen in other sports. However, pool has a well-established professional circuit with prestigious tournaments like the World Pool Championships and the Mosconi Cup. These events draw top talent from around the globe, featuring intense competition and high stakes, much like any other major sport.

Exploring the Facts: Why Pool is a Sport

Fact 1: Skill and Strategy are Paramount

In pool, skill and strategy are paramount. Players must possess a deep understanding of angles, force, and spin to control the cue ball's movement accurately. Strategic planning is crucial, as players must anticipate their opponent's moves and position themselves advantageously for future shots. This level of strategic thinking and precision aligns pool closely with sports like chess and golf, where mental acuity and foresight are key.

Fact 2: Physical Control and Dexterity are Essential

Pool demands exceptional physical control and dexterity. Players need steady hands, precise timing, and the ability to execute intricate shots under pressure. The fine motor skills required to consistently deliver accurate and controlled shots cannot be underestimated. These physical demands further solidify pool's status as a sport.

Fact 3: Competitive Pool Has a Global Following

Professional pool has a dedicated and passionate global following. Major tournaments attract thousands of spectators, and matches are often broadcasted on television and online platforms. The sport's popularity is evident in the number of competitive leagues, clubs, and training facilities dedicated to nurturing new talent and hosting events worldwide.

Cue Sports - OKBET //panalo567casino.com/cue-sports-in-olympics/ //panalo567casino.com/cue-sports-in-olympics/#respond Mon, 22 Jul 2024 02:00:00 +0000 //panalo567casino.com/?p=1638 Cue sports which are also called "billiard sports" have a long past and a huge fan base around the world. But they still haven't made it to the Olympic Games even though they are very popular and take a lot of skill to play at a high level. Many people, both fans and professionals, are very interested in the topic of whether or not cue games will make it to the Olympics. We'll talk about the past, problems and possible future of cue sports in the Olympics.

A Brief History of Cue Sports

Cue sports have been around for centuries, with origins tracing back to the 15th century in Europe. Over the years, the games have evolved, leading to various forms like snooker, pool and carom billiards. These sports are not only popular in countries like the UK, the USA and China but have also garnered a global following.

The major cue sports have established their own prestigious tournaments. For instance, the World Snooker Championship, the U.S. Open Pool Championship, and the Three-Cushion Billiards World Cup attract top players from around the world and are watched by millions of fans.

Efforts to Include Cue Sports in Olympics

The push for cue sports in Olympics to be included is not a new phenomenon. Governing bodies such as the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) and the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) have been lobbying for their inclusion for decades. The process involves meeting the stringent criteria set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which includes factors like global popularity, governance, and adherence to the Olympic Charter.

One significant step towards Olympic inclusion was the recognition of the World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS) by the IOC in 1998. This recognition was a crucial milestone as it allowed cue sports to be considered for inclusion in future Olympic Games. However, despite multiple attempts, cue sports have not yet made it into the official program.

Challenges Facing Cue Sports

1. Competition with Other Sports

One of the primary challenges for cue sports is the intense competition with other sports vying for a spot in the Olympic program. The IOC aims to keep the number of sports manageable and often prioritizes sports with higher visibility and broader appeal. As a result, new and emerging sports like skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing have been given the nod over more traditional sports like billiards.

2. Perception and Image

Another challenge is the perception of cue sports. Some may view billiards as a recreational activity rather than a competitive sport, despite the high level of skill and precision required. Changing this perception is crucial for gaining Olympic inclusion. Efforts are being made to showcase cue sports as a competitive and professional discipline, but overcoming long-standing stereotypes takes time.

3. Governance and Unity

The fragmented nature of cue sports' governance has also been a hurdle. Unlike other sports with a single unified body, cue sports are governed by multiple organizations, each overseeing different disciplines. This fragmentation can complicate efforts to present a cohesive case to the IOC. However, recent years have seen increased collaboration among these bodies, which bodes well for future bids.

The Case for Cue Sports in the Olympics

1. Global Popularity

Cue sports have a substantial global following, with millions of fans and players across continents. The accessibility of cue sports, with tables available in homes, clubs, and public spaces worldwide, contributes to their popularity. The inclusion of cue sports in the Olympics would not only recognize this widespread appeal but also introduce the sport to a broader audience.

2. Skill and Strategy

Cue sports require a high level of skill, strategy, and precision. Professional players spend years honing their techniques and developing mental fortitude. The complexity and depth of the game make it a fascinating sport to watch and analyze. Olympic inclusion would highlight these aspects and elevate the sport's status on the global stage.

3. Youth Engagement

In recent years, there has been a surge in interest in cue sports among younger audiences. This trend is partly due to the rise of digital platforms and live streaming, which make it easier for fans to follow their favorite players and tournaments. Including cue sports in the Olympics could capitalize on this trend, attracting a new generation of players and fans.

The Road Ahead

While the journey to Olympic inclusion has been challenging, there are reasons to be optimistic about the future of cue sports. The WCBS continues to work closely with the IOC, and there is growing support from the global cue sports community. The success of cue sports in multi-sport events like the World Games and the Asian Games demonstrates their potential as an Olympic sport.

Although they are both games played with a cue stick and balls, on a table they offer distinct experiences in terms of rules, gameplay and techniques. Understanding these differences can enhance your enjoyment of the games. Improve your betting skills on OKBet.

Understanding The Basics of Snooker vs Pool

Snooker: Precision and Patience

Snooker is a game that requires accuracy, calm, and the ability to plan ahead. The table is usually 12 feet by 6 feet and has smaller pockets. There are 22 balls: 15 red balls, 6 colored balls (yellow, green, brown, blue, pink, and black), and one white cue ball. The goal is to get points by putting the balls in a certain order: one red ball, then one colored ball, and so on until all the red balls are plated. Then, players hit the colored balls from yellow to black in a certain order.

Pool: Speed and Skill

Pool on the other hand, is known for its faster pace and diverse variations with eight-ball and nine-ball being the most popular. It is played on a smaller table, usually 9 feet by 4.5 feet, with larger pockets. In eight-ball, players aim to pot either the solid-colored balls (1-7) or the striped balls (9-15), followed by the black 8-ball to win the game. In nine-ball, the objective is to pot the balls in numerical order, with the game-winning shot being the potting of the 9-ball.

Key Gameplay Differences

Table Size and Ball Composition

One of the most noticeable differences between snooker vs pool is the table size. Snooker tables are significantly larger, making positional play and shot selection more challenging. The smaller, lighter balls used in snooker also require more precise cue action and control. In contrast, pool tables are more compact and the larger balls allow for more aggressive shots and faster gameplay.

Pockets and Potting Difficulty

Snooker pockets are smaller and less forgiving, demanding greater accuracy from players. The tight pockets make it more challenging to pot balls, especially from tight angles or long distances. Pool pockets, being larger, offer more leniency, allowing for a wider range of shots and more frequent potting, which contributes to the game's faster pace.

Game Rules and Objectives

The rules and objectives of snooker and pool are distinct. Snooker requires a more strategic approach, as players must alternate between potting red and colored balls while considering the position of the cue ball for subsequent shots. The scoring system in snooker also adds complexity, with different points awarded for each colored ball. In pool, the primary objective is to pot the designated group of balls (solids or stripes) and ultimately the 8-ball or 9-ball, depending on the variation being played.

Shot Selection and Strategy

In snooker, players must think several shots ahead, planning their positional play carefully to maximize scoring opportunities and minimize risks. Safety shots, where the cue ball is left in a difficult position for the opponent, are common in snooker. Pool, with its more open table and larger pockets, allows for a wider variety of shots and encourages more aggressive play. Players often aim to clear the table quickly and may take on riskier shots to gain an advantage.

Betting Tips for Snooker vs Pool

Understanding Player Strengths and Weaknesses

Before placing bets on snooker or pool matches, it's essential to research the players involved. Look for information on their recent performances, strengths, weaknesses, and playing styles. In snooker, some players excel in long potting and break-building, while others are known for their safety play and tactical approach. In pool, players may have strong break shots or exceptional cue ball control. Understanding these nuances can help you make more informed betting decisions.

Analyzing Head-to-Head Records

Head-to-head records between players can provide valuable insights into their competitive dynamics. Some players may have a psychological edge over others, consistently performing well against specific opponents. Analyzing past match results and patterns can give you an idea of how a match might unfold and which player is more likely to emerge victorious.

Considering the Format and Venue

The format and venue of a match can significantly impact the outcome. In snooker, different tournaments have varying frame lengths, with longer formats favoring players with greater endurance and concentration. The venue's table conditions, such as cloth speed and pocket tightness, can also influence gameplay. In pool, the type of table and the presence of a shot clock can affect player performance. Be sure to consider these factors when placing your bets.

Betting on In-Play Markets

In-play or live betting allows you to place bets while a match is in progress. This can be particularly advantageous in snooker and pool, where momentum can shift rapidly. Observing the early stages of a match can give you a sense of how players are performing and any potential trends. In-play betting markets, such as next frame winner or total points in a frame, can offer exciting opportunities to capitalize on these observations.

Managing Your Bankroll

Effective bankroll management is crucial for successful betting. Set a budget for your betting activities and stick to it, avoiding the temptation to chase losses. Consider placing smaller bets on multiple markets rather than risking your entire bankroll on a single outcome. This approach can help spread the risk and increase your chances of long-term profitability.

Utilizing Betting Promotions and Bonuses

Take advantage of betting promotions and bonuses offered by sportsbooks like OKBet. These promotions can provide additional value, such as free bets or enhanced odds, increasing your potential returns. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of these offers to understand any wagering requirements or restrictions.
